Edible Worcester, Issue 2: Editor's Letter, Fall 2019

It’s hard to believe that less than six months ago the Edible team decided to launch Edible Worcester. What a wild and wonderful ride we’ve been on since!

Just a few highlights:

We attended An Orchard Evening at Tougas Farm in Northborough, a benefit for Central Mass Grown. A beautiful party nestled amongst the apples, peaches and blackberries, full of delicious local food, drinks, music and good conversation.

We toured the Worcester Food Hub and heard the stories of many of their members. We’ll be sharing them with you, our readers, in upcoming issues.

The Worcester Chamber of Commerce is a wonderful resource for bringing local business together. We are delighted to have joined the Chamber and look forward to actively participating.

And of course, we cannot forget the numerous coffees, meals and conversations we had just wandering around the city visiting new places. Greater Worcester is full of exciting initiatives and we are thrilled to be able to highlight as many as possible in Edible Worcester.

When we launched this new magazine in July we shared our commitment to printing two initial test issues, allowing us to see how our free publication would be received and if it could sustain itself supported solely through advertising dollars. We have been so gratified by the response from you, our readers and subscribers, as well as from local producers, farmers and businesses eager to read more, see more and advertise more.

So we are delighted to say, “Keep your eyes out for quarterly issues in 2020!” And don’t worry: Worcester County-based stories won’t be leaving our editorial in Edible Boston—we know how important the county is to Boston’s local food community; as Worcester’s influence grows as a regional food hub, it’ll be as important as ever for these stories to reach readers to the east. Just as in the two test issues, we’ll continue to run one or two stories across both titles, giving these Worcester businesses double the love.

Just as we do in Edible Boston, we ask that you patronize our Edible Worcester advertisers whenever you can, and thank them for their support—they’re the ones who make all of this possible, allowing us to continue highlighting the incredible and diverse food community of Worcester County.

Peace,
