In October 2018, Chris and I brought Edible Boston readers on an eleven-day tour through Piedmont, Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany (read all about it here). It was such a success, we’d planned to do it again, this time to the southern regions of Campania and Puglia in late June, 2020.

And we all know what happened next.

But after a year+ staying safely at home and a full course of the COVID vaccine (team Pfizer!), we’re itching to get back in the travel game and experience local food in a whole new place—and we want you to come along with us.

Are you free in June 2022 for nine days in Campania and Puglia? Together we’ll visit artisan food and wine producers, explore bustling cities, fishing villages and tucked-away towns throughout Southern Italy.

Scroll through these stunning images, courtesy of our hosts at Go Ahead Tours, then read more about the itinerary below:

First, we’ll stay 2 nights seaside on the Sorrento peninsula tasting limoncello and tomatoes and learning to make our own fresh mozzarella. We’ll take a short trip outside of Sorrento to an agriturismo, where we’ll explore the lush gardens and cultivated fields. After touring the farm, a four-course dinner will follow, complete with a wine tasting led by an experienced sommelier.

Moving east towards Puglia, we’ll stay in an elegant, rustic masseria—a boutique hotel based on an ancient farm of almond, citrus and olive groves. With a swimming pool and views of the sea, the Masseria Montenapoleone will be our home base for the next 4 nights. Each day brings a new adventure into the pastoral countryside, exploring the UNESCO-recognized trulli houses, touring a seaside village, traversing centuries-old vineyards, learning the history of Puglia’s olive oil and wine production and experiencing hands-on cooking classes.

Then it’s back to Naples for one last special evening before returning home. We’ll walk the city markets, enjoying the region’s most famous delicacies: pizza napoletana, sticky-sweet babá pastries, freshly caught seafood and vibrant, fragrant citrus.

As the departure date nears, our friends at Go Ahead will help us add more small food producer visits, filling out the itinerary in true Edible Boston fashion. Our tours are custom-designed to suit our readers: You’re an intelligent, well-traveled and food-obsessed bunch, and our in-depth itinerary reflects that. Sign up now to secure your spot and take advantage of the best pricing, splitting your payments into monthly installments.
