A Year at Rattle Root Farm, a photo essay
Rattle Root Farm was in its infancy in October 2022, when the greenhouses were being framed and the beds were being raised. Joey Hersh, Hannah Pilar Romig and Peter Herceg were beginning the transformation of the field on Mirick Road in Princeton into what would become a community-supported agriculture farm. I noticed the changes to the field and introduced myself. Our conversation revealed the knowledge the three farmers were bringing to the project and the care they would take to provide “beyond organic” foods while preserving the soil and land. I humbly asked if I could document the first year of the farm in photos; they graciously agreed and I became a fly on the wall as they worked. These images are from the first year and harvest at Rattle Root Farm.
